EWASTE
This is one of my thought which is going on in my mind that is about E-WASTE. This is what causing problems like global warming,pollution etc which is posing danger to the human life and even to my mother land .I would like to tell you that all the country send all thier remains of electronic things to our mother land that is INDIA.The reason behind it is this work of prossesing this ewaste in INDIA is cheaper than in comparrison from all other country. This is then burnt in INDIA.Which is causing air to get polluted and reluting in decreasing of the layer of OZONE.
Actually, what drives the export to India are:
ReplyDelete1) The dirtiest recycling is cleaner than the cleanest mining. India realizes that getting copper and steel they need from recycling is easier, more efficient, and creates less pollution.
2) Rich countries have lost the ability to repair and reuse equipment. In Cairo you can have a cell phone repaired on a local street, probably also in India. In the west everyone throws the cell phone away.
Fifteen years ago there was bad press about coffee farmers who were not paid fair wages from the coffee which was expensive. Someone suggested ending the trade, to boycott coffee. People who work in the field said that would not help the farmers. Instead, the set up Fair Trade Coffee.
We need Fair Trade in recycling, not to export toxics mixed in, and to give the Indian recyclers enough money from the trade that they can improve their operations.
